Information You Give Us
Depending on your use of the Site, we collect different personal information about you.
Advocates using our Site will be asked for the following information:
- Name
- Contact information
You may also provide personal information through the questions used to populate the NYS DOL form. Such personal information could include the following, depending on what information you provide while filling out the wage theft claim questionnaire (the “Questionnaire”):
- Name
- Address
- Contact Information
- Details and information on your employment, such as your hours and pay
- Disability status
- Medical Information, such as the use of sick leave
- Union Affiliation
- Any other information you might share as part of the Questionnaire.
Information Collected Automatically
Our website collects information that helps us serve you and lets you use certain features of our services. To do this, we may use cookies, web server logs, web beacons, and JavaScript.
Cookies
Our web server log may:
- Collect information about your device, operating system, browser, access domain, and other system settings,
- Identify your system’s language and your country and time zone,

Advocacy Organizations
We have partnered with Advocacy Organizations (each, an “Advocate”) that may be able to provide not-for-profit or reduced fee legal or other assistance to help you in navigating the Site.
The Advocate will have access to all of the information you provide through the Site, including your username and contact information, the responses you provided through the Site, and the results of the Questionnaire. The Advocate’s privacy practices may be different from ours and will apply to their use of your personal information. We are not responsible for how an Advocate uses your information. If you have questions with respect to an Advocate’s privacy practices, please contact them. By using the services of an Advocate, you agree that the Advocate may contact you via e-mail or text message.
Service Providers
We use a number of outside service providers, such as cloud storage providers who store the information we collect, software developers we hire to debug or improve our program, providers who support certain features of our services that allow us to communicate with you (such as automated SMS text message providers, e-mail service providers, and live chat providers) and payment or credit card processors. These outside service providers may have limited access to your personal information to the extent necessary to provide their services.
Researchers/Data Analysts/Third-Party Advocacy Groups
We may also share anonymized, and where appropriate aggregated, information and the results of any DOL complaints for the following purposes:
- research,
- academic studies,
- data analysis,
- reports, and
- labor rights advocacy and wage theft reform efforts.
That means that we remove identifiers so that the information is not linked to you or any other particular person. For example, the data we share may be used to say how many users (not the names of) live in New York. We may also share with others how many people (not who) visited our site.
We do not share information from:
- Specific categories of personal information, such as names, phone numbers, login and access details.
Funders
We may also share anonymized and aggregated information about our users to our non-profit funders for research purposes.

We may share your personal information if we believe we need to do so to:
- Bring and support lawsuits in support of our mission to prevent wage theft,
- Enforce our Terms of Service,
